‘Tis the Season of Giving

This Holiday Season consider giving a gift that will change another’s life forever…

The mission of Hugs Café is to create an inviting place of training and employment for special needs adults while providing dignity, self-worth and developing respect in the community.

To fulfill the training portion of our mission, we will be launching a series of training classes while we continue to raise the funds needed for the actual Hugs Café.  At these training sessions, Hugs Café teammates will learn food safety, kitchen safety and cooking skills necessary for working in the restaurant industry.  By the end of the training series, all of our teammates will be Food Handler certified by the State of Texas and will have gained skills that that they can apply at Hugs Café or even other food service organizations, giving these individuals with special needs an opportunity to interview and achieve gainful employment.

Training sessions will begin this November at a local supermarket who has graciously donated a vacant commercial kitchen for our use.  We have many of the kitchen supplies such as bowls, spoons, baking sheets, spatulas, etc. that are needed for the classes, but we are still in need of a few items.

Our Current Need

We will begin the training with baking skills. We, therefore, have a need for three KitchenAid mixers.  Currently, Target is having an online sale of 5-quart KitchenAid mixers with bowl-lift stand for $249.99 (regular price $449.99).

THANKS-FOR-GIVING

This is an exciting time in the life of Hugs Café, Inc. and in the lives of some amazing adults who so desperately want to be contributing members of our society.
