Hugs Cafe Inc has been awarded a grant in the amount of $13,324.90 to complete the propagation infrastructure for the Hugs Greenhouse program. Located at 3054 CR 205 in McKinney, this tranquil setting provides meaningful employment opportunities for adults with special needs. The funds awarded by McKinney Community Development Corporation will allow the Hugs Greenhouse program to begin growing perennials year-round using existing plant cuttings. This will teach a valuable skill to the Hugs Greenhouse team and reduce product cost.
At the McKinney Community Development Corporation meeting on May 28th, after the motion to approve the grant request passed unanimously, MCDC Treasurer Angela Richardson had this to say, “It made me proud as a McKinney resident to be able to support this business….Support these team members and their work and quality of life… I just think it is a great project. It made me feel amazing. I am so happy that MCDC is able to support these types of projects. “
Hugs Greenhouse is expected to begin performing propagation in early September.
